The minor rantings of a single LDS male, flailing through eternity

Starting Point

Well this might be the dumbest thing I’ve yet come up with to do with myself.  Many moons ago, when I was but a wee, still hopeful lad, I kept a journal of the events in my life.  During my sejour in equitorial Africa, I made entries almost daily.  That frequency started to wane with my return to the United States, to the point that I haven’t written anything about myself since probably 2003.

So now, what to do?  I always thought of a journal as something that other people would one day read, so I tried to make it moderately interesting to anyone who hadn’t lived it, as well as insightful, insofar as my own perception permits.  But I always figured I’d be fertilizer before anyone got into it.

My current thought is to post my journal here, on this blog, and leave it viewable to the public.  That could get hairy.  Other characters have major roles in the events of my life, and those characters might not look too kindly on my writing about them in an open forum, divulging my personal (and not necessarily complimentary) attitudes about them for all the world to see.

So I suppose I will attempt to protect the names of the innocent.  Whereas I want to be honest with this project, and say what I really feel, I suppose I could spin any critical stuff into something more constructive.  In fact, perhaps I could just make an effort to be more fair in my attitudes such that no one could be pissed off by them.

Well…enough with the philophical underpinnings.  On to the stuff that actually happened.
